Why ChatCBT?

What is it and why does it exist?

Why ChatCBT Exists

ChatCBT started from a simple belief: the tools that help people manage depression and anxiety shouldn't be locked behind expensive therapy sessions or subscription paywalls. Sure, these things have their place, but this shouldn’t mean that people who are less well-off are unable to get the help and support they need.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is one of the most evidence-rich treatments for mental health — recommended by the NHS, backed by decades of research, and used by therapists worldwide. But accessing it isn't always easy. Waiting lists are long. Private therapy is expensive. And when you're in the middle of a difficult moment — at 2am, on a Sunday, during a panic attack — a six-week waiting list doesn't help.

Enter ChatCBT...

That's why I built MindPath: a free, private, interactive CBT toolkit that anyone can use, anytime, without signing up or handing over personal data.

It’s why I built the Resources Vault, where you will find easy-to-understand articles that break down all the core components of CBT and the mental health conditions it is designed to treat.

And it’s also why I decided to build a UK-wide directory of trained CBT therapists and counsellors who can help if your needs are more complex.

Seeking Help

Counselling and mental health therapy has come a long way over the past 50 years and, while there is still much to be done to eliminate the stigma of mental illness, more people than ever are finding the confidence to speak out and seek help.

Nevertheless, the first few steps towards finding a suitable therapist requires what can seem like an enormous amount of courage and effort. Taking the time to do the research, finding a qualified counsellor, and making contact can be extremely daunting – especially if you don’t know where to look, or what it is you’re looking for.

I hope this website can be the helping hand you need to guide you on your journey to mental wellness.

Get Started Now

To get you started, I have included everything I wish I’d had access to in my times of need, including:

Wherever you are on your journey, know that change is possible. I know this from personal experience and from the experiences others have shared with me. Everyone deserves happiness and this is what I wish for you.

A Note of Care

It is important to stress that I'm not a therapist or mental health professional. I am simply someone who has found enormous benefit from these tools, and who wants to share them in an accessible format so that others can benefit too.

ChatCBT is a self-help resource built with care and grounded in evidence-based CBT techniques, but it is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment.
